Well, one Sunday afternoon up at the Teig's house Seth gave Michael another one. He had given Michael several at our house on previous days. We asked if Austin wanted to get one. He said he would. Of course people tried to talk him out of it because they thought he didn't want to do it. But I knew that all he needed was my encouragement.............lol. He wanted to do it so here is a picture by picture account of the actual IV given to Austin........
Here is Seth telling him what he is about to do........................
Here Seth is starting to inject the needle...
Here they are..........needle going in............Austin in deep meditation :)
Needle in and set in the vein...........Now to pull the needle out, which will leave the tube in the vein.
Out comes the needle....
Austin................you can look
No more needle................just the catheter. You can see Seth putting pressure on the vein to keep the blood from pouring out.
Here he released it a little to show Austin the blood........................ Cool, hu dude...
A moment of satisfaction for Austin......................He's thinkin..............I da man
Now Seth shows Austin the needle.............................Since you can't see very well, I will tell you. The needle reaches about the top of his shoulder in the picture. It doesn't go all the way in, but it does go pretty far.
Here is a close up of the catheter in Austins arm............... What happens next could not be documented..........................
Seth pulled the catheter (tube) out of Austins arm and he passed out on the floor. We then had to give him CPR. Seth gave the rescue breaths and I did the chest compressions. When Austin came to, Seth was lip to lip, mouth to mouth with Austin about to give him another breath......... When Austin saw this.............................he passed out again....................there was even a couple tears streaming down his cheek after he saw Seth that close.........................................JUST KIDDING
Austin did great and so did Seth. The operation was a success........................ Now, Austin is officially coody free thanks to Seth's coody shot.
